Submissions open for Little, Brown Emerging Artist Award

Little, Brown Books for Young Readers is now accepting submissions to the Little, Brown Emerging Artist Award, part of the publisher’s initiative to support diverse and underrepresented voices in the picture book community. In a press release, Little, Brown defined diversity as “literal or metaphorical inclusion of characters of underrepresented ethnicity, religious background, gender identity, class, mental or physical disability, or any other nondominant populations.” Eligible artists may submit a mock-up of their picture book for a chance to win $1,500, a round trip to New York City, and a day at the LBYR offices, including meetings with an editor, art director, and artist mentor to discuss the winner’s work.

The submission period ends on May 15.
